The Schau Dental team is dedicated to serving you. They work hard to provide a happy and relaxed atmosphere, while providing the best care they can. Our team includes a receptionist, hygienist, and two dental assistants. And for your added peace of mind, all our staff are CPR certified.
Violet: Receptionist
In March of 2010, Violet joined our team. Along with a great personality she brings with her many years of experience in the dental field. In addition to being a warm, calm, and welcoming face to patients of all ages, she also has the knowledge to help guide you with the business end of things, including insurance issues, booking appointments, and much more. We know you will enjoy spending time with her as much as we do.
Sylvie: Hygienist (currently working part time)
Sylvie is our certified hygienist, and graduated from the University of Manitoba in 2000. She worked with Dr. Schau for 3 years at his previous office and joined his team here at Schau Dental in the summer of 2007. She will be looking after the health of your gums as you come in for your regular visits to ensure your teeth stay nice and strong and healthy. She endeavors to stay up to date with current information and techniques to provide you with the best of care. She will work hard to educate you and provide you with the tools and skills you require to maintain your optimum oral health. Due to the intimate relationship between your teeth, gums, and overall health, Dr. Schau and Sylvie will work together to provide you with a customized recall program that meets your specific oral health needs.
Sylvie is also in charge of monitoring our x-ray equipment. The equipment is continually monitored to ensure it is performing within the recommended parameters as to avoid any health and safety concerns for our patients and dental team.
Stacy: Hygienist
Stacy is a certified hygienist who first joined our team for a year to fill in for Sylvie while she was on maternity leave. We have been fortunate to be able to keep her around while Elaine is away on maternity leave.
Stacy brings with her a warm personality and a gentle touch. She will take care of you and guide you with how to improve and maintain your oral health. If you are having trouble keeping an area clean, let Stacy know and she will find the tools you need to get the job done.
Kym: Assistant
Kym is a registered dental assistant with added training in orthodontics. She brings with her years of experience, a smile that lights up a room, and friendly personality. She will help you feel at ease when you are in the chair and guide you with any questions you may have about your treatment. After having worked with Dr. Schau in the past, Kym joined the Schau Dental team in 2010 when an opening became available.
Kym is also in charge of monitoring infection control throughout the office to help ensure your health and safety are never at risk.
Elaine: Assistant (currently on maternity leave)
Elaine is a registered dental assistant with added training in orthodontics as well as dental hygiene. Elaine worked with Dr. Schau previously for about 3 years and joined the Schau Dental team in September of 2008 after returning from maternity leave. You will see Elaine working various duties in the office as her training allows her to provide dental cleanings, assist Dr. Schau, and with the rest of her time she helps out with reception duties. She is very knowledgeable and friendly and will do her best to ensure you are well cared for.
The Others:
From time to time you may notice a new person in the office. As part of our focus on education we have teamed up with some of the local schools to help train their students. These students will primarily be students doing their practical work experience for the dental assisting program. In other cases it may be a hygiene or dental student who is job shadowing. At no time will either the hygiene or dental student be providing your treatment, as their practical experience is obtained at the University.
